Areas of expertise:
Colorectal Surgery
Colorectal surgery encompasses a range of procedures aimed at addressing issues in the lower gastrointestinal tract, including the bowel, colon, rectum, and anus. It may be necessary to undergo such surgery to treat conditions such as Crohn’s disease or to seek a cure for colon cancer or rectal cancer.
These surgeries are performed to repair or remove a damaged or diseased section of the lower intestinal tract, which may be the result of cancer, malformation, another disease, injury, or infection. Different surgical techniques are available, and your surgeon will assess your medical condition and overall health to determine the best approach for your situation.
Robotic & Laparoscopic Surgery
Robotic and laparoscopic surgery are minimally invasive surgical techniques that use small incisions and specialized surgical tools to perform surgeries. Both of these techniques are designed to reduce the amount of tissue damage and scarring associated with traditional open surgery.
Robotic surgery involves the use of a robotic system controlled by a surgeon to perform the surgery. Laparoscopic surgery, also known as keyhole surgery, involves the use of a long, thin tube with a camera and surgical instruments attached. Both robotic and laparoscopic surgery have many advantages over traditional open surgery, including shorter hospital stays, less pain and scarring, faster recovery times, and lower risk of complications.
Cytoreductive Surgery
Cytoreductive surgery is a type of surgery that aims to remove as much of a tumor as possible from the body. This procedure is commonly used in the treatment of advanced or metastatic cancer, particularly cancers that have spread to other areas of the body.
The goal of cytoreductive surgery is to remove all visible tumors and as much of the surrounding tissue as possible. This can help to slow the progression of cancer and improve the effectiveness of other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
Surgery for Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer is a form of cancer that can develop in either the colon or rectum. This type of cancer typically originates in the colon, which is part of the large intestine responsible for transporting processed food to the rectum for elimination from the body.
Dr. Godbole has extensive experience in performing surgery for colorectal cancer. He utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, working closely with other specialists to provide patients with comprehensive care and improve their chances of successful recovery.
Overall, Dr. Godbole’s expertise in colorectal surgery and peritoneal surface oncology allows him to provide his patients with advanced treatment options and the highest standard of care.
